A Bit About Me

I grew up and continue to live in a small New England town. My love for travel and outdoors stems both from trips I took with my family as well as my friends. Whether it be a 1 and a half month long cross-country trip, solo backpacking treks, or learning how to use a camera in New Zealand, my love for the outdoors collided with my love for photo and video.

After filming my first wedding I knew that not only can I do this, it's what I'm supposed to do. Years later I continue to use my knowledge and passion to create love stories and meet the most incredible couples. THIS is where things take a turn. I've spent years learning and understanding the wedding industry, which brought me to one conclusion.....less is more. I've shot big weddings, elopements, backyard weddings, etc. but I always felt like my travel itch was only covered by a Band-Aid. I'm now using my experience and love for new places to focus on destination weddings and elopements. I want to tell your story in the most authentic way possible. Whether that's a 10 mile hike, hitting the slopes, or a weekend in your favorite national park, I want to capture you being you.

I received my first camera for Christmas in 2017. For the next few months I took photos of whatever I could but still didn't know how much of a powerful tool a camera could be. Fast forward to June 2018 when I began my study abroad term in Dunedin, New Zealand. That's when I found myself in the most beautiful place I've seen to this day. In order to capture that beauty, I wanted to know how to do it properly. That was the moment photography became more to me.

During this time a lot of different things took place. I started doing senior portraits, filming dorm tours for my college and learning as much as I could. I graduated with a degree in the arts and took a job as a digital content coordinator. The people I worked with are more than incredible and I'll always be thankful for them. The first wedding I shot was for one of those co-workers. After that wedding I realized working with a camera in my hand was all I wanted to do. Every one of my co-workers encouraged me to make my passion a reality, which is where the story of my business starts.

After leaving my job, I went head first into starting my business. Before I made my business name, my Instagram was already @duvarneyphotography so that's what I stuck with. Little did I know that video would be what I do most. For the next couple years I would film and photograph weddings all over New England and New York. My greatest lessons where second shooting for other videographers and photographers. The time spent with these professionals not only bettered me and my work, but gave me connections and friendships I'll have forever.

Here we are now, the new DuVarney Film and Photography! After spending the last 3 years all over New England, filming and photographing large and small weddings, it's time to get back to adventure. Being an adventurous person myself, I know how special those times are taking on new journeys with the one you love. I'm here to give you the most authentic view of your day. I don't want you to feel like you're crowded by paparazzi, I want you to feel like you're starting a new life together while making a new friend.
